Happy Easter Morning Sidewalk Sunshine

Just a block from home on our Easter morning walk my dog Valentino and I were delighted to find a bit of unexpected sunshine. This sun made a great beginning for a Happy Easter!

What a sweet surprise to find the child who lives in the house on the corner had painted a giant sun with sidewalk chalk and the happy phrase, "You are my sunshine!"

You are my sunshine dog, Valentino
Valentino and I found a bit o' sunshine on our Easter morning walk.

And yes, hours later, I am still singing that song in my head and with a smile upon my face. With a bit of sidewalk chalk, what might you paint on the walkway to your home for passersby to find?

Walking In Sunshine Wildflowers

When you wake up to stormy weather just take an early morning walk and you are sure to find a bit o' sunshine along your way.

On our first walk of a morning my dog Valentino and I found ourselves walking in a light rain with thunder rolling in the background. Needless to say I was in search of sunshine!

Valentino walked right into (and almost pawed upon) a patch of Florida wildflowers Yes, there is always a bit o' sunshine to be found peekin' out o' the clouds!

This pair of sunny yellow flowers is from the Aster family. They are Coreopsis Lanceleaf, more commonly known as Tickseed. (No icky ticks here!)

Walking On Sunshine

The showy wildflowers had me immediately singing in the rain, the song — Walking On Sunshine.

You may remember the movie and recall the song. If not, you can find the original motion picture soundtrack online.

I am including two video versions of the tune for your listening pleasure as a walk down musical memory lane.

Song sung by Katrina & The Waves

Eddy Grant song version

Which version of the song shall you sing while walkin' in sunshine?

Sunday Sunshine Shelter Dog

View the adoption Option on Amazon
When I found myself feeling way down low over the passing of my dog Tidbit I visited a local animal shelter to walk a dog. Little did I know then that a docile hound dog in a shelter kennel would become the sunshine of my life.

We choose the shelter dog adoption option! But of course, we hope that you shall too.

My shelter dog Valentino has an important message to share with you. We put it on a postcard so that you shall share it too!

By the way... The sun hanging on the wall above my dog Valentino on the sofa was a handmade gift to me from my son William. He welded it out of scrap iron.

Read more about the dogs who are, or have been, a bit o' sunshine in my heart and home at Dog Pawsitive Tidbits.

Sticking it to my Car

I have been a hardworking gal, at my J-O-B and online, to earn the money needed to pay for my car repairs and or a new used car, whichever the case may be.

I have faith my new mechanic can get my car back on the road. So ... in good faith ... today, I created a bumber sticker and plan to stick it to my car as soon as I get back in the driver's seat!

In keeping with my goals to spread a bit o' sunshine into the lives of others, I think this bumper sticker will do the trick. What do you think? Would seeing this on my car, or your car, or any car, put a smile on your face?

Day off and the sun is Shining

Good morning blogging friends! I'm off work today and wanted to share a bit o' sunshine with all of you...enJOY!

I've lots on my ToDo List today, but most of all I'm going to enJOY a slow-paced time of crossing these things off my list amidst enJOYin' the sunshine.

Sunshine Blessings

Along with my blessing of sunshine comes a couple of other things...

First, a special Thank you! to a special Gather Friend (you know who you are) for a private "I Miss You" message.

I've been extremely busy, online and offline. I am writing and creating, just spreading it around a bit at many different venues, (again, online and offline). My newest online forum is Squidoo, where I have high hopes of earning an income one day, as well as creating for charity!

I've also spent the last few weeks job hunting again, since there have actually been job listings in our area for a change. With that, I'm happy to announce that...

I am no longer among the unemployed!

As of Monday morning at 6 am my schedule will be quite different and will take some serious getting used to. I am not a morning person! And I'll be a breakfast server at a family-style restaurant. Nothing glamorous, but it is work and I'll be feeling much more useful; being unemployed has not been good for my sense of self-worth.

I'm also spending a lot of time at the nursing home with my aunt. But, she may be going home next week. She'd just a couple weeks ago been moved from the therapy section of the home to the long-term section, but Aunt Martha Bell has decided she wants to go home.

For me, this means I'll be leaving work and heading to her place for a few hours. So, I may not be online as much for awhile. And when I am, I'll be concentrating on being as productive as I can be, need to be, for me.

As for today, I have a few errands to run, however, with a nasty winter storm arriving overnight that dropped rain and ice and now is dropping snow, I may just stay home today. I need the rest and I'd like to do some serious catching up online.

Trusting Sol

I planned as a today to-do to share a bit o' sunshine with you, but I was blinded by the light of wintry white. However, I heard the promise of golden tresses of tomorrow whispered within the wind...

O' Happy Day!

This post is a 10 minute freewrite.

As defined by Wikipedia, Free writing — also called stream-of-consciousness writing — is a writing technique in which a person writes continuously for a set period of time without regard to spelling, grammar, or topic. It produces raw, often unusable material, but helps writers overcome blocks of apathy and self-criticism. It is used mainly by prose writers and writing teachers. Some writers use the technique to collect initial thoughts and ideas on a topic, often as a preliminary to formal writing.

Misery loves company.

Fact or fiction?

Are there some persons who are unhappy and want everyone else to be unhappy too? Posibly, possibly not. This was my food for thought this mornin' as I wondered what my daily dose o' sunshine would be for you today. A comment by a dear friend, the muse, and it comes at such an appropriate time, for it is her birthday. And nothing could make me happier than for her to have a day filled with nuttin' but sweet sunshine!

I think it easy to agree that there are those who want us to be as miserable as theya re. However, I can't help but wonder if maybe that's just my negative reaction to their unhappiness. In reality, maybe their acts of unhappiness are simply pleas for someone, something to grant them a moment of happiness. Maybe their acts of unhappiness are nothing more than the only way they know how to let their teardrops fall.

A hug, a smile, a call, a kind word or tweo, a wee little deed, may wash away unhappiness, if only for a moment. But if I feel that someone is trying to make me as miserable as they are, then I'll be unable to fill their need, their greatest desire -- happiness.

Happiness, like sunshine, comes in small, hopefully, daily doses. For any of us, just a stolen moment or two along life's way. I think I'd do myself well to try to send a moment of happiness, just a wee bit o' sunshine spread, into another one's day.

I say happiness loves company.

What say you?

And my time is soon up, this 10 minute freewrite, soon to follow will be today's sunshine, which will be created with happiness in mind -- yours and mine.

HUGs, blessings & a bit o' sunshine!

And a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dear friend!
