abitosunshine is here to remind you!
September 8th is National Grandparents Day!
Grand Day
Whether your Grands be near or far
Or dangling from heavenly star,
Be sure to let them know you care.
You can do this from anywhere—
By phone call or heart whisper, say:
"I love you!" on Grandparents Day.

I am a grandmother, from afar, as my grandson lives in another state. Read more about long distance grandparenting.

Love your little rhyme and hope you have a happy 'grand' day tomorrow
ReplyDeleteThank you, Fiona, and Grand day wishes for you, too!
DeleteDon't have any but I bet you enjoy yours :)
ReplyDeleteActually, if you follow the link to my shared article on grandparenting, I disclose the fact that my grandparents are now deceased ... and I am currently alienated from my grandson... So, no, in all probability I shall not enjoy this special day. However, since I do believe in the power of SOL, I shall be sure to do something in honor of Grands to filter a bit o' sunshine into the day.
DeleteLike so many others, I (sadly) grew up without grandparents in the picture. And I have no kids, so no grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be celebrating My Beloved Sandra's grandson's birthday tomorrow, though, so...
Good deal on the birthday celebration for tomorrow, Ron.
DeleteWish you a lovely Grandparents Day. Hope you'll have a day to remember even when living further away from your grandchild. I love the poem you posted!
ReplyDeleteI don't think we have this national day in our country. My grandparents all died (the first grandparent in 1995, the last one 2 years ago). They are still on my mind often and I even blogged about them. I don't have kids myself so I won't have grandchildren. Days like mother's day aren't the easiest days in the year but fortunately there are plenty of children around us and we are enjoying their company. I'm sure we will be some kind of grandparents for their kids as well ;)
Delighted you stopped by, Cessie. I just spent a long while reading your China posts. What a journey you have been on for sure!
DeleteI have been thinking about volunteering at a local daycare center or elementary school, thinking maybe that will warm my grandma space a bit (and be good for the kids.) We shall see...
Thank you, Abitosunshine Ruth. I'm like you, Grandkis are also far away, two are in London. But we were there a couple of weeks ago so it's okay. The others are between 80 and 600 miles away.
ReplyDelete..
Thanks for the reminder. Happy Grandparents Day! :)
