Bookmarks by abitosunshine

My first bookmarks for my Zazzle store are inspired by my friend and roommate, Stephanie. These bookmarks were created at her request so she could mark her recipes for the week in her cookbooks.

Stephanie's Cookbook Markers by abitosunshine
Set of Bookmarks for Stephanie

Monday pictures her Zucchini bits, which utilized leftovers along with her homegrown zucchini. Tuesday is a cartoon carrot, waving in the Wednesday kitchen queen.

Not wanting to leave out her spouse, on Thursday we picture bread made by Eric. Bread and wine are a staple in this house! Friday serves up an image of homemade pizza, usually made by the two of them, together.

Saturdays, our cups runneth over with coffee, hot or iced.

We finish off the week with nuttin' but sweet sunshine. And yes, that is one of our homegrown sunflowers which produced two pints of sunflower seeds for next year's planting!

These bookmarks are printed on a poly satin ribbon. The colors and printing are fantabulous!

Be sure to visit abitosunshine and order yours today and for the cooks in your family and friendship circle. Check the Bookmarks by abitosunshine collection periodically for additional bookmarkers being created, not just for cooks, for all readers of books.

Volunteer Plants Produce Pumpkins

Yes! Valentino found another pumpkin in a patch!

My dog Valentino has a nose for the scent of pumpkin fruit on a vine. As we wander around the neighborhood on our dog walks he is quick to show me his nose knows where the good stuff grows.

Dog Valentino Found A Volunteer Pumpkin Patch

Along an alleyway the dog dragged me to a patch of grass with a motley looking vine I recognized as what I thought was a dying pumpkin patch. Sure enough, there was a wee pumpkin growing in its midst.

The owner of the house where Valentino discovered the pumpkin patch was in her yard. I commented to her how much my dog enjoys her pumpkins. She was rather tickled by his vegetarian-like hunting ability.

The woman told me these are volunteer pumpkins. She had not planted the seeds! But she is enjoying these pumpkins too.

The woman also asked me this question: "Did you know that when a vine produces a pumpkin all of the plant nutrients go straight to the fruit growing on the vine and oftentimes its flowers and leaves pretty much die away?"

I had no idea. I learned my something new on this day!

Come walk the dog with me and see a few more pumpkins we found along our way!

Swagbucks Book Club News

Have you heard the latest book club news from Swagbucks? Yes, that's right, Swagbucks now has a book club. Swaggernauts meet up in the Swagbucks blog on Fridays at 10am PT (that's 1pm EST for me).

Delightedly, I usually have Fridays off of my job, so maybe I will be around to participate in the book discussions. (And maybe even add my two cents worth and maybe even earn swagbucks for doing so!) If not available at the specified time, I can certainly read all about it in the blog post at my convenience.

You can check out last week's book selection in the Swagbucks blog post "Southern Cooking with The Help". You'll see my comment on the post.

If you're not already part of the Swagbucks nation, just sign yourself up right here (as my referral) and get started earning cash and prizes! Personally, I prefer and elect cash deposited directly into my Paypal account for my swagbucks, but there are many prizes available in the Swagstore on which to spend your Swagbucks digital dollars. Reminder: be sure to download the Swagbucks toolbar so you can search and win swagbucks and more.

Seasonal Stampede

I awoke to a bright blanket o' snow on the ground, a thin coverlet, thank goodness. Traffic on the roads and in the stores reminded me of a stampede of wild horses and the attitudes of some of those humanoids I came in contact with left me wondering what on earth they must all be thinking -- or drinking -- all in a crazed state - I'd rather be with the wild animals!

Arriving home and feeling I'd better get my daily poetic creation posted, I began searching for the perfect picture of the earlier stampede I'd witnessed, all the while thinking of a book I'd recommend we all might want to read or re-read. I share the author website link to this gem below:

Once Upon A Time ~ Tuesday

My favorite place to be these days, Gather, closed down for maintenance last night so I took a mug o' warm tea and a book to bed with me, reading tales of old from Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. I highly recommend this book, as its pages are filled with the wisdom of the ages, a splendid soul journey guide.
